The University of Tennessee College of Medicine Chattanooga is proud to host this faculty development workshop to improve the team-based learning skills of its faculty. NOTE: This activity is only open to UT College of Medicine faculty, residents & employees.

Andrea S. Franks, PharmD, BCPS - Associate Professor, Dept of Clinical Pharmacy at the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy; Associate Professor, Dept of Family Medicine at the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine

 

Learning Objectives: After the activity, participants should be able to:

   • Describe the key components of team-based learning (TBL)

   • Discuss strategies to encourage team formation for TBL sessions in health professions education

   • Develop meaningful team assignments/application exercises for a TBL session

   • Discuss facilitation skills to enhance learning and the classroom climate for a TBL session

 

Preparation:  Download and read the brief reading assignment on Why Team-Based Learning Works.  Dr. Franks would like all attendees to read this brief reading assignment prior to the conference.

 

Registration: Lunch is included. On-site registration is welcome, but seating, course materials and meals cannot be guaranteed for on-site registrants. Register by submitting the form at the bottom of this webpage.

 

AMA Credit: The University of Tennessee College of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 3.75 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

 

Accreditation: The University of Tennessee College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

 

Directions: The UTC University Center is 0.4 miles southwest from the Erlanger Hospital Baroness Campus. From Erlanger, go west on Third Street (up the hill), turn left on Palmetto Street, and then turn right on Fifth Street. The University Center is on your left after you pass 3 speed bumps/cross walks. There will be signs to guide you to the Chattanooga room. UTCOM faculty should walk if possible because there will be limited parking available in the Fifth Street parking garage and on the street.
