Pediatric Emergency Medicine Goals and Objectives

 

GOAL 1: Clinical Competence

Objectives: 

  • Perform an H&P on at least 4 patients per shift
  • Choose to evaluate a variety of pathology each shift

GOAL 2: Communication

 

Objectives: 

  • Sign out at least one patient to each attending on shift
  • Discuss at least 4 patients per shift with the resident
  • Communicate your treatment plan to the nurse managing the patient
  • Ask each parent if they have any questions at the completion of your evaluation. Self evaluate if their questions resulted from an omission in your discussion.

GOAL 3: KNOWLEDGE BASE

 

Objective:

 

  • Find one new fact from each patient encounter, either from discussion with resident or attending or from review of the literature or reference

 

GOAL 4: PROCEDURAL SKILLS. (NOTE: KEEP A LOG)

 

Objectives:

  • Do the procedures when appropriate on your patients
  • Perform at least one procedure per shift
  • Observe at least one procedure per shift

 GOAL 5: WORK ETHIC

  • Be punctual
  • Complete the above objectives
