Office of Continuing Medical Education
Welcome to the Office of Continuing Medical Education at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine Chattanooga
Why is CME important? CME is important because physicians are required to attend CME activities in order to maintain their licensure and certification. The state of Tennessee requires physicians to earn 40 hours of CME credit every two years in order to maintain licensure, but different states have different CME hourly requirements in order to maintain licensure.
CME at the University of Tennessee - CME is part of the strategic plan at the University of Tennessee and is an integral part of the University of Tennessee College of Medicine (UTCOM). The UTCOM is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians, and it has achieved Accreditation with Commendation, the highest tier of CME accreditation. The UTCOM is one of six colleges in the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and has campuses in Chattanooga, Knoxville & Memphis. The Chattanooga campus is the administrative center for the Offices of CME at the UTCOM under Dr. Robert Fore, Associate Dean for CME.
