Specialty: Plastic and Craniofacial Surgery
A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Sargent received his baccalaureate degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology and his Doctor of Medicine from Emory University. He completed his General Surgery and Plastic Surgery residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He obtained additional training in Craniofacial Surgery with Dr. Paul Tessier in Paris, France. He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Sargent is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Plastic Surgery, University of Tennessee College of Medicine Chattanooga. Dr. Sargent joined The Plastic Surgery Group in 1987, where he founded the Tennessee Craniofacial Center, serving as its medical director. Under his leadership, the center has grown to be nationally recognized with patients referred from over forty states across the U.S. as well as several foreign countries.
Dr. Sargent has been inducted into The Johns Hopkins University Society of Scholars. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is a member of many professional organizations, including the American Association of Plastic Surgeons. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. His special areas of interest are craniofacial and aesthetic surgery. Dr. Sargent is a frequent visiting lecturer and has an extensive bibliography including a book on Craniofacial Surgery.
Dr. Brzezienski is a graduate of The Thomas Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed General Surgery training at the University of Connecticut, and Plastic and Reconstructive surgery training at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York.
Dr. Brzezienski has completed a fellowship training in Orthopedic Hand Surgery at The Philadelphia Hand Center of Thomas Jefferson University.
He joined The Plastic Surgery Group and Hayes Hand Center in August of 1995. Dr. Brzezienski is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He also holds a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand.
He serves as Program Director for the Plastic Surgery Residency and an active faculty member in the department of Plastic Surgery and Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine Chattanooga. He is a member of numerous local and national medical professional societies. He is a published author in scientific journals and lectures frequently on a wide variety of subjects within his field of specialty.
A graduate of Vanderbilt University and Vanderbilt University Medical School, Dr. Hayes interned in Surgery at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York, completed a General Surgery residency at Vanderbilt, served two years as a U.S. Army surgeon and finished his residency in Plastic Surgery at New York University/Institute of Reconstructive Surgery. He received special training in Surgery of the Hand from Dr. Robert Beasley in New York.
Since joining The Plastic Surgery Group, P.C. in 1970, he has devoted most of his professional life to Hand Surgery. In 1981 Dr. Hayes founded the Chattanooga Hand Rehabilitation Center and The Hayes Hand Center.
Dr. Hayes is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, The American Association of Hand Surgeons, American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery, and other major professional surgical societies. He has served as President of the Tennessee Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, Tennessee Hand Society, Chairman of the Computer Uses Committee of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, President of the Chattanooga Academy of Surgery and as Chief of Surgery at Erlanger Medical Center. After serving as Acting Chairman of the Department of Plastic Surgery, he teaches Hand Surgery in both the Departments of Plastic Surgery and Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine Chattanooga.
Dr. Hayes is certified by the American Board of Surgery, Inc., The American Board of Plastic Surgery, Inc. and holds the Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand with the original exam group.
Dr. Hayes retired in July 2008 from his practice; however, returned in 2009 as Professor Emeritus and Director of Research for the Department of Plastic Surgery. He instructs residents on research projects in the field of plastic and hand surgery.
Dr. Jemison, a native of Memphis, Tennessee, graduated with honors from Washington and Lee University and completed his General Surgery internship and Orthopaedic Surgery residency at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine Chattanooga at Erlanger Medical Center.
Dr. Jemison's training then included a one-year fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity surgery at the Indiana Hand Center in Indianapolis. His training also included a fellowship in hand trauma management in Switzerland with the AO Group.
Dr. Jemison joined The Hayes Hand Center in 1990 and is Board Certified with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He has also received the Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand along with other regional and national medical professional societies. He is an active faculty member in the Departments of Orthopaedic Surgery and of Plastic Surgery at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine.
His special interests include hand and upper extremity trauma and its reconstruction, arthritis surgery, nerve surgery and problems and injuries of the wrist and elbow.

Dr. Kennedy, a native of Alexander City, Alabama is a graduate of Auburn University and The University of Alabama School of Medicine. He completed his General Surgery residency at The University of Alabama in Birmingham and his Plastic Surgery residency at The University of Tennessee College of Medicine Chattanooga. After completing his Plastic Surgery residency, he completed a residency in Hand and Microvascular Surgery at The University of Alabama in Birmingham.
He joined The Plastic Surgery Group, PC and Hayes Hand Center in July of 1997. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a member of The American Society of Plastic Surgery and a candidate member of the American College of Surgeons. He holds a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand. Dr. Kennedy is an active member in the Departments of Plastic Surgery and Orthopaedic Surgery at The University of Tennessee College of Medicine Chattanooga and is a member of several local and national medical professional societies.
Jason Rehm, MD
Dr. Rehm is a graduate of The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, TX. He completed General Surgery training at the University of Nebraska in Omaha and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery training at The University of Tennessee College of Medicine, Chattanooga Unit. After completing his Plastic Surgery residency, he completed a fellowship in Hand/Microvascular Surgery at The University of Mississippi in Jackson.
He joined The Plastic Surgery Group, P.C., and Hayes Hand Center in August 2004. He is board certified with The American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is also eligible to receive the Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand. Dr. Rehm is an active member in the Department of Plastic Surgery at The University of Tennessee College of Medicine Chattanooga.
Dr. Rehm is an active member of the local Chattanooga-Hamilton County Medical Society, as well as numerous national societies including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
