Internal Medicine Call Schedule

Service Medicine
Four daytime teams -- Admitting responsibilities are 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM, every four days. (Night admissions are only on Friday and Saturday.)

One night float team -- Admitting responsibilities are 7:30 PM - 7:00 AM, Sunday through Thursday. (Residents on the Night Float Service are off duty from Friday morning until Sunday evening.) The night float team meets with a faculty member and provides resident teaching at 7:00 AM (Monday - Friday) to review the patients admitted. Patients admitted by the night float team are usually assigned to the team "on call" when that night float shift began, although some newly admitted patients may be assigned to other teams to optimize patient loads.

Elective Rotations
Most elective rotations have no call responsibilities.
