Transitional Year Applicant InformationTransitional Year Program
The Transitional Year Program is designed to meet the educational needs of the residents with a need for broad-based primary care education in the fundamental clinical skills. Service obligations of the sponsoring institution are secondary to the Transitional Year educational objectives.
Consider our program if you:
Our program participates in the AAMC's Electronic Residency Application Service, called ERAS, to accept and process residency applications. This is a computerized application service which is available to all medical students attending accredited schools in the United States, as well as foreign medical graduates via the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). Medical students interested in applying to our program can request information and a brochure but applications and supporting documentation must be submitted directly from the medical schools via the Internet. Someone in your medical school's Dean's Office should be able to counsel you regarding this procedure. The NRMP Program Code for our six Preliminary positions in the Transitional Year Program is #1689999P0.
Call the Transitional Year Program Office at 800-947-7823, ext. 6670 if you have other questions.
Note: The Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners requires that applicants for license in Tennessee must be graduates either from LCME or AOA accredited schools or from international schools whose admission criteria are comparable to LCME medical schools. The UT College of Medicine Chattanooga and its programs have determined that they will only consider applicants for student rotations or residency/fellowship applications who are from schools who meet these same criteria so they would be eligible for medical license in Tennessee after completing residency.
