You must have a Social Security Number (or affidavit if you have applied for but not yet received your SS#) with other documents (proof of identity, visa and I-94 documents if you have a visa, two proofs of residence, etc.)  Check the website for details. 

The Tennessee Department of Safety does not require a written exam to obtain a license in Tennessee if you already have a valid driver's license
from any state. An eye examination with a fee of $19.50 required.
