Note: This rotation will only be approved the months when pediatric residents are rotating.

 

This elective is structured to provide the interested student an opportunity to develop skills in physical examination on neonates, in the recognition of neonatal illness, and in proper therapeutic intervention. The elective student will work as a member of the house staff team. An attending neonatologist will make daily teaching rounds with students and residents who will also provide supervision during the rotation. The student will generally have a patient load of 3-5 babies. The student will not be responsible for overnight call, however he/she will complete a long call until 8pm 4x/month.
