Cardiac Exercise Testing

Residents who have completed a Cardiology rotation, and who have been approved by the Cardiology Section of Erlanger's Medical Staff, are eligible for ordering, supervising, and interpreting exercise tests. Residents who have not completed a Cardiology rotation may order tests. However, a supervising resident or the attending physician must be present during testing. All resident interpretations must be counter-signed by the attending cardiologist on call for the hospital.
For Ordering
Inpatients: The order written on chart with the name of the supervising physician.
Outpatients: The outpatient department is to call the exercise testing lab with the date, time, and name of the supervising physician.
Securing a supervising physician is the responsibility of the ordering physician and the test cannot be scheduled without this information. |
